Mohsin Naqvi Meets UAE Delegation to Boost Cooperation

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with a delegation from the United Arab Emirates led by Director General Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al-Falasi. Detailed discussions were held on Pak-UAE relations, mutual cooperation and making the immigration process easier for passengers.

The new system will be launched initially on a pilot basis from Karachi in the first phase.

Under the pre-immigration clearance, the immigration and related clearance of passengers will be completed in Pakistan itself. After the implementation of this system, when passengers reach the UAE, they will not need to go through the lengthy immigration process and they will be able to exit the airport directly like domestic passengers. The relevant authorities will continue to coordinate to finalize the administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project and after a successful pilot, the system will be gradually expanded to more locations

ISLAMABAD—A delegation from the United Arab Emirates led by Director General Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahij Al-Falasi called on Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting discussed in detail Pak-UAE relations, mutual cooperation and making the immigration process easier for passengers.

It was agreed in the meeting that a formal agreement will be signed between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates regarding “Pre-Immigration Clearance”. This new system will be launched initially on a pilot basis, while the pilot project will be launched in Karachi in the first phase.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that under the pre-immigration clearance, the immigration and related clearance of passengers will be completed in Pakistan itself and after the implementation of this system, when passengers reach the UAE, they will not need to go through the lengthy immigration process and will be able to exit the airport directly like domestic passengers. He said that this initiative will facilitate travel, save time and improve the overall experience for passengers. The UAE delegation termed this initiative as beneficial for the people of both countries and expressed its commitment to cooperation. It was agreed in the meeting that the relevant authorities will continue to coordinate to finalize the administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project and after a successful pilot, the system will be gradually expanded to more locations. The delegation included Executive Director Digital Transformation Jama Abdullah Al Qabi, Executive Director Airports Hammad Saif Al Mashghooni and other senior officials. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha were also present in the meeting.
