Dubai: In a strong show of commitment to workers’ health and physical wellbeing, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai will organise the Labour Run 2026 this Sunday, January 25, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council. The event will take place at Quranic Park, with the run scheduled to begin at 7:30 am.
Held under the theme “Together, We Run to Support Workforce Health,” the event is expected to attract thousands of workers from various professional sectors across the emirate. Race categories include 6 km and 3 km runs for men, and a 3 km run for women, encouraging broad participation and inclusivity.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said the initiative reflects Dubai’s deep commitment to the welfare of the labour community, describing workers as a cornerstone of the UAE’s sustainable development and progress. He stressed that recognising and valuing their efforts is a shared responsibility, noting that such sporting platforms foster unity and happiness among workers while reinforcing the UAE’s message of social inclusion.
Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, stated that the primary aim of the Labour Run is to ensure better living conditions and a positive working environment for workers. He highlighted that the event offers an important opportunity for workers to focus on physical fitness and social interaction, contributing to higher productivity and mental wellbeing.
Carrying the message “Super Fit Workforce, Super Hit Workforce,” the seventh edition of the Labour Run has seen extensive preparations. The initiative is supported by several entities, including Dubai Municipality and the Takhdeer Award, underscoring strong cooperation between government bodies and partner organisations.
