Iran prepares new mechanism to regulate maritime activities in the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has developed a new mechanism to regulate maritime activities in the Strait of Hormuz, which it announced will be presented soon.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission, said that a professional system has been developed to control traffic on Iran’s designated route in the Strait of Hormuz, which will be announced soon.

This will benefit commercial vessels cooperating with Iran, with a special service fee charged under the mechanism, while the route will remain closed to so-called ‘Freedom Project’ operators.

On the other hand, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Aravani, has said that the responsibility for the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its global economic impact lies with the powers that started the war against Iran.

Addressing a special session of the United Nations, he said that in less than a year, Iran faced two illegal acts of aggression that violated the UN Charter and international law, the effects of which will persist even after the end of military operations.
