Karachi Fruit Market Under Scrutiny as Officials Face Land Allotment Bribery Allegations

KARACHI: Serious complaints have emerged regarding alleged land mafia activities and the allotment of government-owned land at the Karachi Fruit Market. A complainant has alleged that certain senior officials of the Market Committee are allegedly facilitating the allotment of government land to favored individuals and influential elements in exchange for substantial bribes.

According to the complainant, small-scale and deserving traders who have been conducting business regularly at the market for a long period are allegedly being subjected to various forms of harassment and pressure. At the same time, influential individuals are allegedly being granted land allotments through questionable or potentially unlawful means.

The complainant further stated that a detailed follow-up report will present the names of the officials allegedly involved, along with relevant allotment documents and other available evidence, so that the matter can be subjected to a transparent and impartial investigation.

Affected traders have called for a comprehensive review of all allotments, leases, government land records, and the role of the officials concerned. They have demanded an independent investigation into the matter and urged that, if any corruption, irregularity, or unlawful allotment is established, action should be taken in accordance with the law.
