International Workers’ Day: Dubai to Host Wide-Ranging Celebrations

Dubai: A series of large-scale events will be held across Dubai to mark International Workers’ Day on May 1, led by the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai in collaboration with the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs (PCLA). The initiative reflects Dubai’s continued commitment to enhancing workers’ welfare, social protection, and overall quality of life.

The main events are scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on May 1, 2026, with both in-person and virtual participation options available. Workers can register through the “Blue Connect” mobile application, available on Android and iOS, which also offers opportunities to win prizes through raffles. Additional activities, including sports and entertainment programs, will be organized at workers’ accommodations. A key highlight this year is the “Recognition Visits,” where outstanding workers will be honored directly at their workplaces. More than 100 valuable prizes will also be distributed through special draws.

Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Assistant Director General of GDRFA Dubai and Chairman of PCLA, emphasized that workers play a vital role in Dubai’s achievements, noting that ensuring their well-being and happiness remains a top priority. Colonel Omar Matter Al Mehairi, Assistant Director of the Labor Relations Sector, highlighted that Dubai continues to lead in providing safe and dignified working conditions. He added that the celebrations serve as a meaningful opportunity to express gratitude, while reaffirming the emirate’s commitment to human-centered development through quality housing, healthcare, and legal protection for workers.
